Lirit's Blue Eleketh
Left Too Long Egg
Browns, greens and blacks battle in their most horrid hues of putrescence, looking damp and dirty all at once, while invoking memories of rotten food. The egg, being egg shaped, escapes the anvil of obvious comparison to a tuber, though the colors seem to be a perfect match to one of the rooty vegetables, left underground for far too long. Flakes of grey and black look like they're ready to fall off and infect the sands. Swaths of brown desperately try and overtake the decomposition, but the only answer is that the egg is dark and black within.
Egg Inspiration: Rotten tubers.
Hatching Message: The Left Too Long Egg bounds up a good arm's length and cracks upon hitting the sands. The split slowly hunts its way up to the top of the egg before bursting asunder to reveal hidden beauty within. Remarkably, the tiny Steadfast Sunscorched Blue hatchling is able to flick off bits of egg shell with a twitch or sweep of limb or wing, showing remarkable control for one so young. Lifting his head high, the hatchling calls out longingly, a deep warble of need.
Steadfast Sunscorched Blue
Ista's brilliant tropical sky dominates this dragon's hide in a brilliant blue that seems to shimmer like the horizon at high noon, the color of sheer atmospheric heat melding into wavering illusion. That midday sun sets along the clean lines of his head and down the smooth swath of his throat and chest, the hue shifting as imperceptibly as the firmament in a subtle change to dusky azure. His intense eyes are rimmed with twilight. The same creeping change of evening wraps the long, sinuous tail, darkening steadily to gloaming's murk at the forked tip. His wingsails show wisps of soft gray-blue, hints of thin cirrus clouds drifting along at some lofty altitude interrupted by the radiant cerulean of his wingspars. Pale, as though the glare of the sun were washing away the color, his neckridges trail along his spine in a neat glinting row. Athleticism is prevalent in the lay of the muscles of his limbs and back, promising an ease and elegance of movement.
Final Size: 24.4
Dragon Inspiration: Bound together by the tragedy they share, Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson's lives are distinctly similar. As part of the traveling circus's high wire act "The Flying Graysons," Dick Grayson witnessed his parents' death while they performed at the Haley Circus. A two bit extortionist, Tony Zucco, cut the wire to gain kickbacks from the circus owner. Bruce Wayne, who was in the audience, felt an instant connection to the boy and took him in.
Shortly thereafter, Grayson became the ward of Bruce Wayne. Wayne provided him with a home, solid financial support and taught him new skills, adding to his tremendous gymnastic abilities. Eventually, Bruce Wayne allowed Grayson access to his most private world as his partner, Robin.
Name: Eleketh (ELL-eh-keth)- This name is based on Elek, a Hungarian name meaning 'helper and defender of mankind'. This is very much your Eleketh. Not only will he be your indispensable supporter, but he's always ready to help a clutchsibling or wingmate or anyone else who might need it. We also thought that the name had a grace to it without being feminine and would suit a dragon as nimble as Eleketh.
Mindvoice: Eleketh's touch is a sudden surge of sensations, a barrage of whirling color and a consuming sense of flexibility and weightlessness. When somber and brooding in youth his thoughts will be awash in violets, blues, grays and shades of murk and solemn contemplation. Those dark shadows will never entirely leave his voice, though they will often dance and flirt with his words in a stunning, oft conflicting, array of mental imagery that only begins to hint at his mental strength as he matures. His words are spoken in a deep tenor, wry and generally simplistic in spite of the broad scope of his intellect.
Internal Impression Message: Dizziness suddenly fills your head, turning the sands and stands pale and translucent. A rising feeling lifts up through your spine, as though you were floating away from the ground even though your feet remain firmly on the hot sand. There's a flicker of color, violet then yellow then green. Some sensation starts within you, brooding at first but growing lighter as it nears. << I was lost without you. >> Loneliness accompanies his words, though that, too, seems to be fading. The voice is as familiar as your own, a part of you and yet somehow separate. << Now I know what I must do. I must be with you, Lirit. Lirit and Eleketh forever! >>
External Impression Message: The Steadfast Sun-Scorched Blue comes to a sudden stop, looking from candidate to candidate. None of these are quite right. Not this one. Not that one. And then he sees her, the sloe-eyed girl that he was meant to be with.
Temperament
Weyrling:
As a weyrling, your lifemate will start out somewhat quiet, almost brooding, as if there were some darkness on the edges of his perception threatening to take hold of him. He is quite happy to have found you and to be bonded for life; you are the candle in the dark for him, and you'll feel his thoughts take an instant upward turn with each special touch of your minds. With each day his trust will grow in you and his dark will lighten with it. Accomplishments are important to him and he'll always do his best to impress you in lessons and games, endeavoring to be the best of the class. Sometimes this may lead to risk-taking on his part in hopes to achieve success. When he fails, he'll be hard on himself but ever steadfast, resolving to take what he's learned and apply it the next time. To his way of thinking, true failure only comes when you quit and your Eleketh is no quitter. He has little patience for bullies, so any clutchmates who demonstrate that kind of behavior are tactfully confronted as the situation warrants, though never with anger. Always, always, those around him know of his inner strength and resolve. He's not one to be funny-except in those flashes of dark wit that will unexpectedly appear in your thoughts--but he appreciates humor in others. His real talent is in how effortlessly he moves and learns. Quick and agile in body and mind, his true skills will become apparent when he takes to the skies and when grasping difficult concepts.
Adult:
As an adult, Eleketh will come into his own in terms of controlling his body. He is particularly nimble and acrobatic, on the land and especially in the sky. He'll always ready for action, your wingman for whatever adventure you are ready to take, supportive and contributing. You'll need to be the safeguarding factor when it comes to preventing injury because in his intensity he will push himself right to his limits and beyond. He has a strong will and a dark wit, is always watching your back and is ever aware of the situation around him. You'll find his opinion often making itself clearly known. If a situation occurs in which he feels it's his place to interfere in Weyr happenings, you may need to use your every strength to pull him back. As an adult he'll be far more of an equal. Though he'll never quite lose those shadows you saw in him as a hatchling, they'll become hidden, back-of-the-mind, almost unnoticeable on most days. They'll show in his darkest hours, but still you will be there to remind him of himself.
Flight:
What he lacks in size, he makes up in agility and quick thinking. In mating flights, as in many things, he has an uncanny ability to anticipate, guessing where the green might go, and will take chances where others are content to follow the chase. Even though his strength may start to wane, his sheer force of will will take him farther than one might expect. For his first few flights he might be confused by proddy greens, even thinking that they are somehow not right in the mind. As he gains experience, though, he will become more supportive of the female, empathizing with what she's going through. Or course, that doesn't mean he won't try his best to catch her.
Wing:
He is your partner in all things, ready to take to the skies, always alert, ever ready to anticipate your needs and the needs of the wing, though he may sometimes assume incorrectly. Never one to shirk his responsibilities, he is one to reprimand, whether or not it's his place to do so, should a wingmate fail to give his or her best or try to impose their will on another. He has enough self-confidence to stand up to bullies. He may chafe under the watchful eye of his Wingsecond or Wingleader if he feels better-equipped or ill-appreciated; in those situations he'll be working on a solution, attempting to make his own way in the world. For those who earn his respect he is a loyal, steadfast supporter, and his strength will likely become as indispensable to them as it is to you.
