Winnit's Green Ivienth
Cavernous Sanctuary Egg
Looming presences surround, dark earth bordered by the equal darkness of roughly-broken granite, the passage of time and the erosion of weather coloring this egg in ominous shades of twilight brown. Palest at its apex, water-soaked soil peppered with sand gives way to smoky cliffs that shadow the shell's sides, faint tracings of fluorescent lichen green illuminating webwork pathways concluding at the ovoid's wide base, ground away by the sand-blasted hues of rasped fallen rock.
Egg Inspiration: This egg's basis is the image of an underground cavern chamber, most likely one unexplored by man. This egg stems from my childhood fear of being trapped in a cave, probably due to one too many times reading Tom Sawyer.
Hatching Message: Cavernous Sanctuary Egg gives a final shimmy and shake, shell crumpling about it's occupant, leaving the Bright Blooming Spring Green Hatchling with a trail of egg goo and shards in a crown looped about her headknobs. With a little shake from muzzle to tail, the hatchling takes her first steps, goopy wings unfurling to fan and be embraced by the warmth of the hatching cavern.
Vivacious Verdant Green
There is a certain energy, a certain exuberant vitality to some rare shades, colors that naturally draw the eye and elicit an emotional kinship. This dragon's hide is one such; for it appears as though Spring has made her brilliant home here, a bright conglomeration of verdant hues found only in the youngest, liveliest vegetation. Fresh, dark green forms a base of her hide, feathering chest and back in soft streaks only to be overlaid with playful, intertwining lighter shades to give the subtle appearance of whimsical vines. These wispy images of flora traipse attractively across the whole of her back and around her neck to embrace her in spirals of leaf tones and bright, elusive glimpses of gold-greens. And while that gives the delicate march of her ridges and rounded shoulders a distinctly sunshiney appearance, her underbelly is a deeper, mossier shade, a tumbling of light into dark as of hidden places that rarely see the light of day. Subtle though the change is, that heavy darkness is marked contrast to the general impression of vitality about her, and the angular, almost overlarge exotic nature of her eyes only speaks of vibrant curiosity.
Final Size: 20.3
Dragon Inspiration: Ivienth is based on the mythological figure Persephone (Greek, or Proserpina as she's known to the Romans). Persephone was the daughter of Demeter, the Greek goddess of the seasons, harvest, etc. Hades, god of the underworld, was pierced by Cupid's arrow and fell madly in love with Persephone and stole her away to the underworld. Demeter, of course, wanted her daughter back and made it winter in order to convince Zeus to force Hades to return her. As things worked out, a compromise was reached and Persephone lived half of the year in the underworld with Hades (fall/winter), and half of the year on the surface with her mother (spring/summer). She is a very independent, adventurous, strong character and something of a wild-child.
Name: Ivienth (ivv-EE-enth) - Ivienth comes from Vivien, which is Latin for vibrant and full of life. We thought it fit the dragon particularly well, and also liked the look of Winnit's Vivacious Verdant Spring Green Ivienth. Should you choose to call her by a nickname, we thought Ivvy was very cute.
Mindvoice: Ivienth's mindvoice is a burst of bright colors and patterns of the most beautiful spring and summer blooms when she is in a good mood. With her touch is carried the unmistakable fragrance of the most spectacular spring day - the scent that heralds the rebirth of all things green and good. When in a darker mood, Ivienth's mind tends to turn to muddier colors, and carries a gritty sort of feel to it, though it is in these times when she is the most eloquent.
Internal Impression Message: The chaos of the hatching cavern, the thrum of dragons throats, the cheers from the stands, the movement of candidates and new hatchlings is suddenly heighted by a rain of flower petals that drifts across your mind. A sweet scent wafts over you and light glitters and all those more garish goings on seem to fade away as your mind is gently enfolded in the soft loving touch that simply belongs there. << Well, there you are, Winnit. The most beautiful bloom in the bunch.>> Her voice is sweet and easy and utterly confident. << I am Ivienth and there's much we've yet to do! So many adventures we must have together! I am yours and you are mine and we shall ever be together. >>
External Impression Message: With the swiftness of one carried on the wings of love, the petite Vivacious Verdant Spring Green finds herself arrived before the perfect choice. With a soft croon, she moves to nuzzle the stomach of a Bitran girl with brown hair, not quite so dainty as she herself is. Mine.
Temperament
Weyrling:
First impressions of Ivienth will leave you with a warm, vibrant, lively feeling. She's strong-willed, independent and playful. She has a childlike innocence through her weyrling period that while quite charming leads to many a question about -everything-, and a thirst for new experiences. With a cheerful burble, and the kind of excitement that is easy to get swept up in, her bright mind will drag you right along with her, << Come -on-, Winnit! We have to try it! >>. She'll be quite the little joiner in weyrling lessons, if only because it's something new to do. And have we mentioned that she doesn't like limits? She'll be the one toeing the boundary and perhaps even occasionally breaking it. It'll be up to you to keep her in check.
Ever-friendly, Ivienth is also a chatterbox. You know the way that those with vivid imaginations can be swept up and away by them? Well, Ivienth is no exception. Sometimes her thoughts will come so very rapidly that it will be hard for even you to follow her. Oh, and she never shuts up. She'll be your constant distraction all through weyrlinghood.
Adult:
Even on into adulthood, Ivienth will never lose her sense of adventure, her daredevil, risk-taking, thrill-seeking attitude. She will usually rely on your judgment for when something really -is- too dangerous for her attempt - but it's not going to stop her from wanting to try it! The playfulness and independence won't go away either. She'll be bright, talkative, friendly, and stubborn at times. Once she reaches adulthood, however, there will develop a level of maturity - of understanding of the gravity of things, of consequences. It doesn't, however, mean that she'll stop taking risks - it's just means she'll think them out first, and then do them anyways.
Just a few other tidbits for your consideration: Ivienth loves the outdoors. She loves sunlight and rain and all kinds of weather. She especially loves the times that things are green and growing - flowers are her favorite things. So expect her to drag you on flower-collecting missions. << No, Winnit, I think I can get -just- close enough for you to reach that exquisite flower growing on that cliff-edge. We just have to turn sideways, that's all... You're buckled in, right? >>
If Ivienth didn't have someone to talk to, she's quite sure she'd go mad - but once she found you, she knew she'd never be alone again. You are the sun in her sky and the bloom on her flower stem. Never doubt that she loves you completely, even if she might get you into more than your share of trouble. She just wants you to have fun and be happy. What more could she want? Besides a nice bouquet of spring blossoms...
Flight:
Proddiness will bring a certain sleepiness to your dragon - the way that the world gets sleepy during winter, all of the energy being pulled within and hidden deep inside. So while she will spend a lot of time taking naps in the sunlight, you'll have a bit of a break from the constant barrage of thought that pummels your mind lovingly. When the flight begins, however, look out world! All of that energy she's put away will burst forth together with the energy gained from blooding her kill. She will, as per her usual style in graceful daring flight, lead the males on a merry chase -daring them to take chances, tempting them to fly as high or as fast as she.
Her naturally small size gives her advantage in all things but stamina. She is fast and could probably turn on a mark if she put enough time into practicing it. She will test every limit of her slender form. She might appear quite dainty, but really, she's that rough and tumble wild-child that just wants to have fun.
Wing:
With your lifemate's primary concern being fun and good times, she won't ever be a natural leader (with your guidance, however, she might be able to achieve it, were that your desire). She -is-, however, a very social creature, so working within a wing won't be any trouble at all! You'll just have to keep tabs that she doesn't spend too much time chattering about who was seen snuggled up with that cute blue and what 'Reaches dragon was seen crooning sweet nothings to which Istan green. Now, it's not that she likes to gossip, not really, it's just that she likes to talk. About anything or nothing.
When she's not distracted, she works cohesively with the rest of her wing to achieve the desired result. Like a child, she also never wants to be called out by an authority figure, so while she won't work herself to be extra good, she'll make certain she's average. She is so confident of her abilities to do just about anything in the air, you might have to be her caution during more dangerous maneuvers. She may be overly energetic at times, but her cheerful outlook will make it all worth it.
