Aiemera's Green Arukath
Nice Legs Egg
Crowned in a billowy cream, this ruffled egg stands out from the bench in all of its uniqueness. Its bold fashion statement is made in the form of bright red, rich navy, and raven black criss-crossing in a plaid pattern across the mid-section of this egg - texture showing a flare outwards as it moves along the round sides of the egg. It gives way to shadow - hinting at depth to the orb that isn't truly there save for two streaks of dirt-smudged beige, thickly marred by brown. These shapely stumps are set in a background of verdant green like that which can be found in mid spring in the Keroonian hills, much as it clashes with the already outlandish color scheme. Pulling this look off is not easy, of course, but just perhaps the Nice Legs Egg does it justice.
Egg Inspiration: "Donald, Where's Your Trousers?" by The Brobdingnagian Bards
Let the wind blow high and the wind blow low
Through the streets in my kilt I go
All the lassies cry, "Hello!
Donald, where's your trousers?
Hatching Message: The varied patterns of the Nice Legs Egg seem to blur into muddy hues as it goes spinning in its sandy cradle. Perhaps the heat caused by this frantic friction contributes to the hatchling's effort to emerge - the egg breaks from the bottom up, falling away in wet shards to reveal a sassy green topped by an eggshell hat. She pauses for a moment, eyelids fluttering shut and open in triad layers of confusion, before the whirling facets of her gaze clear and she shakes the shell free from her finely arched headknobs.
Patina Spotlight Green
Verdigris has claimed this dragon's hide, occluding a warm sheen that flashes beneath like the auroral glow of copper. As it fades around her belly and stretches across graceful wingsails, the color is unmarred but for that faint glimmer of ruddy light. Pale, powdery green is thickest as it accumulates about her neckridges and sculpted headknobs with an opaque softness. She's more striking than classically beautiful, sinuously lissome, fine boned and subtly muscled. A cuprous blaze appears to have been scratched through the pale patina to reveal a gleam of copper on her forehead, adding to the almost fierce, defiant intensity of her gaze, a nearly hypnotic pairing of whirling facets and that still fire above them. Her every movement appears consciously calculated to add to this effect, like a clever performer trying to work the spotlight and coyly lure an audience under her spell.
Final Size: 22.5
Dragon Inspiration: Gwen Renee Stefani, frontwoman of the pop band No Doubt, has experienced a seemingly star-destined rise to fame. Her fashion statements, both in her personal manner and in her stage act's members, have drawn many imitators - and much criticism. The singer's dyslexia has not cramped her studio and concert efforts - or her fashion line, L.A.M.B. Stefani launched a solo career in 2004.

"I think I've been able to fool a lot of people because I know I'm a dork. I'm a geek." - Gwen Stefani
Name: Arukath - We wanted to steer clear of anything excessively feminine and provide some of the firm consonal sounds you desired, so Arukath is named after the Harajuku girls who attend Stefani on tour - and, famously, pretty much everywhere else.
Mindvoice: Rain and, when her mood is less than cheerful, swirling winds make a rhythmic tempest of Arukath's voice, setting a constant backdrop of refreshing coolness to the staccato words she tends to choose. Imagery comes to her but rarely, used for communication primarily as a part of duty, to fulfill the needs of flying between - but when her emotions get the best of her she may resort to pictures and sensation to make her points clear. The rest of the time, she speaks with precision, a purring vibrato betraying affection when appropriate.
Internal Impression Message: << Well, finally! >> A bit touchy about how long she's had to spend looking for you, her voice is nonetheless cheered by deep and sudden affection. It's swooning in intensity, rippled by a vibrato purr, refreshed by the rhythm of rainfall. << It's about time, Aiemera. >> Her impatience is musical, utterly serious and yet completely self-consciously wry, darling and daring and pleased. As she plucks from your mind more words to describe her needs, she unknowingly trades off herself in exchange - and the entirety of her identity of her flows into you in a waterfall rush. << I think we'd better get something to eat now, >> your newborn Arukath decides, and still stunned by the completion of her attachment, you cannot help but agree.
External Impression Message: Patina Spotlight Green Hatchling draws her wings up in an arch over her back, tucking them out of harm's way for one last investigation of the white-clad offerings placed in high contrast against the black sand for her thoughtful perusal. A strange dragon-smile parts her maw, leaving her jaw lazy and slack while she considers her choices, head swinging forth and back in a slow pendulum sway. The movement slows to a halt as her gaze fixes firm upon her future's desire. And then, her request made, she straightens back onto her haunches and allows her new companion to come to her.
Temperament
Weyrling:
From the start it will be all too clear what sort of dragon this is: bold and curious to a fault, stubborn as a mule, and impulsive as a three-turn-old little, she's the sort who will poke her head in a hole to see what might be in it - without regard of the possibility of getting stuck. Your Arukath is self-centered, but not in a malefic way - she just tends to think of herself first, then her lifemate (when she remembers) and then, maybe on a good day, all those other creatures meandering about, a catchall which includes other humans just as easily as herdbeasts. This is not to say your lifemate is coldhearted - she inevitably winds up feeling bad when she realizes she's caused someone else pain or trouble as a result. It's just that she's distracted by the all-encompassing swirl off her own experience. When she gets it in her head to pursue something, she'll go after it heedless of consequence and without a second thought... and even her rider will have a tough time reigning her in.
In weyrling lessons, she's liable to be a real challenge. Her focus is poor, though her ability to perform is spot-on. She has natural talent for the things dragons do, but no talent whatsoever for paying attention; her head's in the clouds, even when all four paws are firm on the ground. Like any dragon she's desperate to fly, and the first time she'll really be paying attention in lessons is when the promise of flight comes into play. She's a nimble enough acrobat in the air, a credit to her color - but given freedom to do as she'd like, she'd prefer to just spread her wings, catch the updrafts and soar.
As a companion, she may also be a handful - always testing the limits of her relationship with you. Intially, it may even seem that the relationship is very one-sided, with her trying fiercely to be the one in charge. If hard bounds are set, however, she'll come to respect them. Like so many showmen, she really does seek approval, and yours most of all.
Adult:
As she matures, she'll become more moderate; she'll learn to look before she leaps and her sense of empathy will grow so she's increasingly able to see the perspectives of others and be less hurtful in her self-absorbedness. The unruly child gives way to a confident but caring adult, though she retains strong opinions about how things /should/ be and don't try to sway her different. She's more than willing to get up in front of her peers and express herself: << This is my way, I'm going to do it my way, and don't stop me! >>
And that's the other thing - from day one, she'll be a sponge for attention, a lover of the limelight, always conscious of appearances. While in her early turns, she'll be sure that life is a play with her in the starring role, she'll become more able to share the stage or work as a co-conspirator as she matures. Gradually, she will likely come to realize that her part takes her to the wings now and then.
Even though she'll often leave the impression otherwise, at heart she's fiercely loyal to her lifemate, protective and quick to anger on your behalf. As she's a temperamental and stubborn sort, the two of you may find yourself occasionally at odds - and woe to anyone that tries to butt in when you're arguing! Bad enough if they should take /your/ side and offend Arukath - worse still if they find fault with /you./
Flight:
Her first flight will probably come as a surprise. This is a case where her youthful self-absorption works against her - she's always deeply aware of her emotions, and those emotions are already mercurial enough. The alterations of temperament that proddiness might bring - anxiety, depressed self-confidence, and obsessive-compulsive behavior - might just seem like another one of her moods. Only when her hide starts to shine are you likely to have a clue as to what's happening - and she herself may not realize it until she's already soaring into the sky. After her first, future flights will come on with less shock - though it's possible she'll still surprise you both once in a while.
Once in flight, she will likely play the puppeteer. Those chasing males are, for the time being, her pawns and playthings - why shouldn't she have a good time with them? She'll try to elicit dissent in the ranks of her pursuers, drawing one close before pushing him away, offering coy glances to another before turning a cold shoulder. She'll leave absolutely no doubt who is in charge of the flight from start to end, and who will make the final choice; when the time comes, it will be on her terms.
Wing:
As a member of a fighting wing, Arukath might very well excel. She has the fortitude of body and spirit to become stubborn and set to a task, and once she's mature enough to turn her wandering mind to something that needs doing rather than daydreaming through her work, she'll likely be a dedicated flier of Threadfall drills and other formation exercises. In a way she is in fact made to fly 'fall, a deep potential within her that will never come entirely to light. The thrill of performance is enough to bring out the hints of that potential which will make you and others aware that it's there - but without the added adrenalin of the sky-borne dance with life and death, that blossom will never come to fruit.
One of the most probable things she'll use to fill that void is the simple friendship of other dragons. Once she's able to look outside herself for others, she's likely to create a small, close-knit group of fast friends. The catch is that to be part of that group, Arukath demands absolute love and loyalty - more than she's willing to give in return. She wants a group of hangers-on, those who feel that by associating with her they themselves are made larger. It boosts her ego - not that it needs boosting. These 'friends' do, however, receive in return the benefit of Arukath's spotlight, as well as her loyalty - should she have favors to give, they go to her posse first.
