Balinne's Green Zelieth

Solitary Reflection Egg

The light plays tricks with this egg, causing it to gleam and glimmer like the ocean under the sun's light as it plays through the tropical foliage of an Istan forest. A lone image stands out from the multihued trees and rushing-water backdrop, seeming brushed across its surface. The image is a poignant one, hinting at a lifetime of memories, these entwined lines representing fingers in close-up, bent in focus to the minute task of tying a small bit of feather and carved, curved bone into a semblance of a fishing lure.

Egg Inspiration: A River Runs Through It

This autobiographical film tells the story of the Mclean brothers, Norman and Paul, growing up along the Big Blackfoot river with the backdrop of the wondrous Montana skyline. The ending scene in the film is of an aged Norman, the narrator, standing knee-deep in the river, tying a simple lure. The shot is a powerful, meaningful close-up with the light playing through the trees on his shaking, lined hands as he speaks, telling the audience that 'all things fade into one, and a river runs through it.'

Hatching Pose: With a final impatient hop, the cracks of the Solitary Reflection Egg’s shell become tears in the inner membrane and an angry snout, dark with goo and slime, pokes out to take its first breath of air. Freedom! This is one inmate who’s done with captivity. Her next breath swells inside the shell, bursting it to pieces and leaving an indignant green on the dark sands.

Jeweled Starlet Green

She is very much green, her hide an endless expanse of an emerald's every-shaded facet that comes together in a verdant display of jewel-like depth and flashy brilliance. And she is absolutely female, her build one of powerful length and healthy curves that features a long, slender neck, broad shoulders and ample haunches. Slim limbs only serve to accentuate her feminine figure and the roundness of her face. When paired with her delicate features and the innocent angle of her headknobs, it gives her an almost doll-like countenance. Sweet, too, are her fastidious little paws - or so they seem until light glints along the narrow curves of long, steely claws. Lime-bright peridot glints along her neckridges and highlights her wingspars. Those moderately-sized wings promise to be versatile in flight, fine beryl sails gracing their capability with a feminine flair.

Final Size: 24.1

Inspiration: Renee Zellweger’s Roxie Hart from Chicago. A would-be vaudeville starlet turned "sweetest little jazz killer ever to hit Chicago." She kills her lover when she learns that he lied to her about getting her on stage. Once in jail, she engages in all sorts of spotlight-driven manipulation, deception and competition to convince the media that ‘it was a murder, but not a crime’. While putting on airs as a repentant convent girl led astray by booze and jazz, she’s really just soaking up the publicity and hoping that it can propel her to the top of the booze and jazz world.

Name: Zelieth - Zeal, Zest, Jazz, Lies! Mix 'em up together with a little Renee Zellweger and you have Zelieth! We wanted her to have a name that evoked all the zip, zap and zaz of the character Roxie Hart, while keeping it feminine and flirty.

Mindvoice: She has a strong voice, perhaps louder than needed for a telepathic connection. Thankfully, it is rich and pleasant for the most part, given to brassier tones only when under duress. Her voice is particularly expressive, and doesn’t often need to be supplemented with other sensations or even much vocabulary. She is skillful in the rich, droll way she’ll make a side comment, the sweet plaintive quality of her coy performances and the venom of her displeasure. When she does pair images with her words, they tend to be a little fuzzy and soft focus, as if it were more dream than reality.

Internal Impression Message: Jeweled Starlet Green comes to a stop, her attention drawn abruptly from the crowd to the candidates. But not just any candidate: one in particular with brown eyes and freckles. Yes, that’s the one she wants. Instead of making a mad dash for her chosen one, the green holds her ground and coaxes her new lifemate to join her in the center of the sands.

External Impression Message: Perhaps the heat is getting to you. There are a few moments to blink the feeling away, but then the sands blur with dizzying totality. Like a lens out of focus, the hatching cavern is a swirl of darks and lights, strewn with glaring stars that were once just subtle glitters of sand but are now overpowering in a world without form or line. But there is one thing coming back into clarity: that green form in the center of blurry chaos brings a clarity that changes everything. Your thoughts are stronger, richer, better because of her. A voice enters your head, right where it should be. << Stand with me and let them adore us. >> In a flash that cavern is back and the roar of the stands cheers like an audience. << You are Balinne and I am Zelieth. We will be great together. >> You get top billing.

Temperament

Weyrling:
Zelieth belongs center stage and she's taking you with her! She'll take whatever attention she can get, good or bad, as long as people are talking about her. From the moment she broke shell, the feeling of all those eyes on her, all that importance coursing through her veins… She was hooked. And from the moment that she chose you, it was obvious that your life together would never be dull.

In short, Zelieth is passionate, confident and dedicated. Or, depending on the angle, volatile, self-absorbed and obsessive. She loves attention, from you and from everyone. Your praise means the world to her. And just as she believes in herself, she believes in you without hesitation. Whenever you need her, she is there to encourage you, to take your side.

Zelieth has no qualms about stealing the show, and weyrling lessons are the perfect time to capture an audience for herself. << They think he’s good at diving? Wait until they see this! >> And with Zelieth, it could go either way: she’s just as apt to fall on her face as she is to upstage the best and brightest, depending on whether she’s being over-confident or right on the mark. She'll often try to show off, doing acrobatics when the weyrlingmasters call for restraint or taking down a herdbeast with excessive gore, even letting out little derisive noises in the middle of a lecture. Hopefully your weyrlingmasters will forgive her or else you might pay for her infractions.

She has a sense of entitlement that adds fuel to her fire. Praise is expected and so it makes her pride all that much more strong. Of course they love her. And of course they love you! Criticism always comes as a shock, making her even less capable of hearing it and not flying off in a passion.

Adult:
She’s not afraid to be a bit of a clown to get applause. As long as they're laughing with her, she's pleased as punch, but should she find they're laughing -at- her, you'll have to quickly calm and console. Her moods can take a turn for the violent when her pride is insulted. That's when your hopeful starlet becomes downright vicious. She'll slander just for revenge and once she decides someone is the enemy, she'll hold that grudge. And not once will she feel guilty about it, either. << If I had the chance, I’d do it again. They had it coming. >>

And then, in the privacy of your bond, she'll turn to you to buoy her spirits. << I'm not really a joke, am I? I'm going to be the best ever, right? You and I, together? >> You are, after all, the only one with whom Zelieth's willing to share her spotlight. And in return, her faith is unflagging. You were meant for bigger and better things, just like her. You are both stars. Though sometimes, it's true, she's the star and you're the spotlight - but even then, she loves nothing better than that light.

She's perfectly happy to play whatever part is asked of her. If that handsome brown likes his girls coy, by golly, she'll coy his socks off. And then, just because the urge strikes her, she'll drop the act altogether and make a crass remark about some other green and show that underneath all the glitz and glamour she imagines for herself, she might just be a bit common. This is something that you’ve known all along. For all her airs, there’s a streak in her that is a little more coarse and tactless than she recognizes. Sometimes that aspiring starlet facade drops altogether and her less civilized side shows through.

Flight:
Someday she’ll feel a new urge, that the -sun- is her spotlight and she has made it as a star. The days leading up to this might find Zelieth in a particularly good mood, her hide a-glow with all the brightness of an emerald at noon. And as a mating flight feels, to her, like reaching the success for which she’s toiled, she may be particularly regular to rise and perhaps even look forward to it more than other greens. When she rises, there is no one to compete with, no nay-sayers to fight. There is only Zelieth and her adoring, enraptured audience.

As much as she might be a delight before she rises, Zelieth can’t help but connect her joy with her captor. Her affection, perhaps even clinginess, will persist and she may even try to draw you closer to her captor’s rider. After all, joined together, you won’t have to relinquish the spotlight, right? And all things are better when you share in them with her — that’s part of why flights so satisfy your Zelieth. Of course, with a short memory and her supreme self-absorption, her poor mate will either actively disappoint her (and incur wrathful displeasure) or just be forgotten.

Wing:
Zelieth's a talented flyer, suited equally to intricate maneuvers or grinding out long hours Very competitive, she will always try to beat other greens, a habit that may require a close eye from you. Her pride will often ask more than her body can deliver, but she'll fly on heart alone if needed. Her confidence borders on delusion and you’ll have be the one to bring her back to reality.

For all her talent in the air, flaming is something that she doesn’t quite get. Perhaps it’s the stench of firestone or the idea of belching, but her disinterest translates to a lack of talent and makes it one of the few things she’s non-competitive about.

She can be an asset to any wing, performing with gusto when given the chance, though relationships may be strained by her competitiveness and lust for the limelight. She’s willing and eager to learn from experienced dragons, likely finding idols to aspire to. Zelieth may be quite vocal if someone isn’t pulling their weight, though. Hurting the wing hurts her, too, and you’ll likely get an earful about it. If the two of you try for a wing position, she'll fly hard, flatter those who can help, tattle on anyone in your way and try to bring them down in the eyes of others. You may have to act as her moral barometer to keep her from going too far.
