Amira's Green Myrienth

Powdered Wig Egg

Curls and tufts and clouds of white swirl into a mélange of whites; bluish white, saffron white, tufted white, gray-flecked white; all these and more wait to trick the eye. This egg is where the pure unfettered blanched hues meet the dirty messy flecks of powder that seem to speckle this egg from top to curled, er, rounded, bottom. It almost looks as though this one is wearing a precariously balanced powdered white wig, resting on the peach-toned shade of the egg below the pristine white canvas.

Egg Inspiration: The powdered wigs so common in Restoration-era comedies, particularly the works of Marlowe and Moliere, replete with their oily-sheen and the thick crust of baby powder caked onto each clumping strand.

Hatching Message: The Powdered Wig Egg shudders lastly, sending up fine dust from a shell fairly disintegrating from around a curled green form within. Though all of the commotion her egg’s undergone was only the result of her stretching limbs and nudging nose, it takes her a moment to realize her freedom and, blinking, step free of her gooey confines to consider the new world revealed.

Lively Alpine Meadow Green

The vibrant green of a grassy alpine meadow paints this dragon evenly from her pert muzzle to her long, agile tail. A swath of iced sage crests under her neck, then fans out into splatters along her slender underbelly. That same paleness, the color of the snowcapped mountains, dapples her peaked neckridges and highlights petite, rounded headknobs. Beneath neatly defined, frosted browridges, close-set eyes often sparkle with friendly wisdom. Her wings are like mountains themselves, though verdant instead of snowy; the spars arch high even when folded back. Translucent sails descend from them in gracious, windswept falls that play warm or cool, sunny or icy, according to the nature of the light shimmering through them. Her lean muscles ripple with the promise of strength. Lithe and graceful, she is all clean lines and kinetic energy.

Final Size: 23.1

Dragon Inspiration: Rodgers and Hammerstein's award-winning stage musical _The Sound of Music_ translated into an incredible film starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer. Their heartwarming story of family and togetherness is based on the travails of the real Von Trapp family, who escaped the Nazi occupation of Austria by emigrating to the United States. Maria, the basis for your Myrienth, is the inspiring, innocent, energetic main character in the film, who brings heart, joy, and music back into the Von Trapp household.

Name: Myrienth - The inspiration for Myrienth is from Maryam, a historical form of Maria, which means 'rebellion.' The final syllable's 'IE' is connected to many aspects of the production, from the famous Edelweiss, to the visual similarity to JulIE, as in Julie Andrews, the actress who played the famed role in the film adaptation.

Mindvoice: Myrienth's impish and sweet mindvoice carries the fresh crispness of alpine meadows on a bright spring day. This is accompanied by a constant undercurrent of growing things: the twist of tendrils when she’s hesitant, explosions of blooms when she’s excited, the prickle of thorns should she find herself frustrated. It is as if her mind is fertile ground with all that energy and curiosity, a place where things may grow without pretense, stalled but never overcome by adversity - just as sweet and stalwart plants may grow even in the chilly highlands.

Internal Impression Message: The color drains from around you, turning the caverns to a land of black and white. Then the white begins to overpower, growing brighter like the sun glaring on snow. A whistling in your ears, some lofty wind, seems to be pulling the noise of the galleries away. Your head swims and then a speck of green catches your eye, gives you a focus, a point to root yourself to in this new icy world, like a sprout pushing through snow. << Amira? >> It’s a pure voice, both excited and trembling. And that tiny bit of green finds company; leaves sprout all over your vision. Yellows return, then pinks and reds, blooming and growing. The voice is stronger, more sure. << Amira! >> The full color of the caverns returns, the wind dies down and a green dragon is staring into your eyes. << I knew we’d find each other. I’m your Myrienth! >>

External Impression Message: With a few more impish, precise steps the Lively Alpine Meadow Green prances up to one last candidate for her consideration. Delight warms the eggshell-starved red that swirls in her eyes, and with a careless little flutter of her wings she steps one more pace forward, putting herself in inviting reach of a tall, brown-haired girl. There. All taken care of.

Temperament

Weyrling:

How do you solve a problem like Myrienth? She is very intelligent, resourceful, inspiring, creative, and clever -- but it is her relentless curiosity that may bring her into trouble with her weyrlingmasters. << You know how B'ryce always makes me do those wing stretches after we've had a disagreement? Well, lately I've taken to flapping whenever I see him coming, just to save time. >>

Chasing a butterfly? Sure, but there's a purpose: to find out where it goes, to better see its colors, to better appreciate the beauty of the world around her, and around you both. Following the sunshine? Tasting rain? Certainly! << I'm very sorry, Amira! I just couldn't help myself, >> with an image of gates open and the hills beckoning beyond. But your lifemate will try to tug you away from your tasks to -experience- the world with her, as she'll very seldom want to be away from or without you.

Whether it be her first time in the air or her first time between, new weyrling lessons will both excite and terrify her: << It could be so exciting to be up in the sky, to be free. My heart should be wildly rejoicing and yet how my wings tremble, Amira. >> She has a tendency to share such conflicted moments with you. Accepting of her feelings and yours, she's also honest in a straightforward, blunt and affectionate manner, and she'll welcome you to do the same. << I can't seem to stop saying things - everything and anything I think and feel. >>

During lessons, she'll always be questioning, inquiring, wanting more detail or more information to sate her thirst for experiences. When she is taken seriously enough to receive an earnest response, she blossoms and becomes even more confident. Though she has a typically draconic memory, so she'll often turn to you to hold onto those treasured replies.

Adult:

In the turns after weyrlinghood, she will retain her strong ability to find wonder and joy in the world, but she'll also be growing into herself more and into her confidence. There may also be some sense of a temper in there, flaring up occasionally, and a stubbornness and desire to get her way when she is just -sure- it's best, but it is up to you, Amira, to nurture or to guide her development.

Myrienth will have an affection for song, for music, and for the creative arts -- she'll particularly encourage you in your sewing, perhaps even giving you new ideas for patterns or materials. << You don't want to wear down your leathers? Use those drapes over there! They'd be abandoned anyway and they'd make such nice playclothes! >>

She'll find delight in all things: from sitting motionless to watch a vtol buzzing by to feeling the wind under her wings. Your impetuous lifemate will urge you to visit green slopes, white snow-capped mountains, water sources of all kinds, and caves of any sort. These places offer her comfort; recharge her energy when it wanes. << Let us visit those hills again, Amira. There is something in the air there that is full of life. We can breathe it in. >> While Myrienth will always love to travel, she'll also bask in being right at home, sunning herself on the warmth of the Istan beaches or splashing about in the surf, and she'll especially love to be near you, Amira. You may find her sweet trilling presence praising your achievements and natural talents, encouraging you to try new things, or prodding you to don a lovely gown for a special occasion.

In fact, she may never be the suave socialite, but she does admire true friendship, and she invites others to confide in her just by her natural and comfortable manner. You'll find in her a confidante, an admirer, a cheerleader, urging you to step beyond your own comfort level and to take chances when you've a secret inner longing, Amira.

Flight:

When she's nearing a flight cycle, she might don one of many personas: anything from elusive and reticent to hesitantly flirtatious, even somewhat shy. Her male suitors may feel like catching your Myrienth will be like trying to catch a cloud and pin it down – she is simply too changeable.

Your beautiful, vibrant Myrienth will be an absolute bundle of energy once she takes to the skies. Skipping over the water, darting through the air, falling, tumbling, twirling -- a dizzying array of motion will be your beloved, leading her would-be captors in a merry game of chase. She'll want to show them all of the incredible places she's seen, share with them her favorite things, so consumed will she be with their heightened grandeur at this time, and it may even come as a complete surprise to her when one of the suitors happens to be in the right place at the right time to intercept her whirlwind tour, but even that will be cause for celebration.

Afterward, she may be apologetic, urging you to be certain she hasn't stepped on anyone's toes (not so much draconic talons, but of human counterparts), but the joy of the flight keeps her from fretting for long--and from allowing you to fret overmuch, either!

Wing:

While she loves to try new things and will likely develop a strong sense of duty that she'll try ever so hard to live up to (even if she's not always successful), she is not without nervousness, and sometimes, not without fear. Her first trip *between* will be an especially anxious one, though she may try to pep talk both of you. << I'll show them we're worthy. And, >> she’ll admit, honest as ever, << while I show them, I'll show me. >>

As a wing member, she's full of new ideas, and sometimes she just interrupts to give one a try. << We've never made a loop-de-loop! I wonder if we could. >> If it draws wrath upon you, she's sincere and genuine in her apology, but her enthusiasm is difficult to restrain, and eventually, it'll creep out again. Myrienth's occasional stubbornness could be an asset or a struggle, depending on how it manifests -- will she insist the wing take play breaks between drills so they're rested? But usually her geniality and sincerity make her a valuable member of the wing. She may get along especially well with younger dragons as one who understands and listens to them, which could be an asset to mentoring or weyrlingmaster teams.
