Rules of Candidacy

In the interest of preserving the integrity of the candidacy experience and keeping everything fair, candidates are asked to adhere to the following rules.

ICA = ICC:

IC actions always carry IC consequences. Sometimes IC consequences also mean OOC consequences. If your character is removed from candidacy IC, that means they will not be standing and that means that they will not be eligible to impress. If you have any doubt about how much trouble your character might get into for whatever reason just ask before your character breaks the rules. We might have suggestions or warnings that will make everything run more smoothly. Getting your character into trouble can be a lot of fun, but it's a good idea to look before you leap. Please don't hesitate to ask about consequences.

No Drunkeness:

Drinking is permitted, but drunkenness is not. IC, candidates are supposed to be exercising some self-discipline and having one's wits about them helps to prevent trouble with other rules such as...

No Sex:

Sexual relations are not permitted for candidates, male or female. The possiblity of pregnancy will prohibit a candidate from standing and while male candidates obviously do not get pregnant, it is only fair that the rule apply to both sexes. If your character is known to have engaged in such behavior, he or she will be removed from candidacy rather than take the chance of having pregnant weyrlings.

Intimate relationships are generally discouraged. While minor displays of affection are not against the rules per se, they may earn a few looks of disapproval and contrivances to keep the two parties separate.

OOC, we understand that your character's feelings may continue or develop during the time of candidacy, but we feel that the focus of candidacy should be meeting new people and exploring the experience of being a candidate. If you are more interested in focusing on a romantic relationship, we encourage you to apply another time.

Do Not Leave the Weyr:

Candidates may not leave the Weyr without a good reason and rider accompaniment. Special allowances are often made for events in other areas and those occasions will be posted to the +bboard.
