Searchrider Instructions

IC Search will be starting after the clutching which will be scheduled after our next cycle starts. '+sc/list ok' will list everyone who is search_ok. This should work in any Ista room once you are listed as a searchrider, but if it doesn't, please let Nolee know as soon as possible and we'll get it fixed for you.

There is a special channel for searchriders to help coordinate search efforts. It works just like the knot but instead of '=isw' it's '>sr'.

Please adhere to the following guidelines:

  1. ICly dragons have a mysterious sixth sense that leads them to potential candidates. They do not find them by smell or taste or anything like that. ;)

  2. Please log the search scene, if just for yourself and the candidate. We encourage you to post the log, either in your own livejournal or on Ista's log community.

  3. Pop the question: Do you want to stand?

  4. You do not have to escort the candidate to the barracks. This is a new thing as we're trying to allow people to focus on the RP and not on the OOC stuff. Just have your character tell the candidate something along the lines of "I'll tell the headwoman you're standing, move your stuff into the barracks when you get a chance."

  5. Once the person has accepted your invitation to stand and you are in an Ista-owned room, it is very imporant that you type '+search <name>' to mark the person as Searched. They will then be added to the knot and receive important +mail about candidacy.

  6. Check out +rwho isw and make sure your candidate shows up. If they aren't on the +rwho after you +search them, +mail the Weyrleaders. If they are (and they should be) page them to let them know that they're on the knot and how to use it -- then welcome them with something like '=isw :congratulates <candidate>!'

  7. Most importantly: Have Fun!

Please remember that all Search information (such as applicant names, who's been approved, etc) is to be held in strict confidentiality and should not be mentioned to anyone. Do not tell the approved applicants that they may be searched; we like to pretend that it's a surprise. ;)

This is meant to be a fun time for all, so please don't feel like these are a bunch of annoying rules. Our aim is for everything to be smooth and enjoyable for everyone while making sure the t's are crossed and the i's dotted. The confidentiality issue is an important one though, so if we find it's been broken it's grounds for removal from the Searchrider Crew.
