Weyrlinghood: Month 1
DTU Etiquette
DTU stands for 'Dragon Talk Unit' because once upon a time, a long, long time ago, it was an actual object that all dragonriders had to have in their inventories. Thankfully, we don't have to worry about that now. ;) For us, the DTU is just a system that allows us to have our dragons bespeak one another and travel between. (Don't worry too much about between for now!)
The Art of Pro:
Dragons, like people, all have their own style of communication and, with telepathy, are capable of sharing more than just words. Any sensation can be passed on via the link between dragons. Many accompany their words, or replace words, with images or colors. Some players chose to single out specific imagery from the dragon's inspiration to repeat as a theme, much like people often have certain turns of phrase that are connected to them. Get creative, play your dragon with others and see what works best for you!
While dragons may communicate freely with other dragons, please keep in mind that speaking to humans other than their rider would be an extremely rare occurence
Channel Etiquette:
There are a ton of channels for various groups of dragons, from channels for certain colors to channels for Weyrs and even wings. The majority of these channels are IC. Talking on these is extremely rare and for the duration of weyrlinghood, we ask that you only talk on the Ista Weyr channel and channel for your weyrling wing.
Handy Commands:
- +help pro - This will get you to -all- the commands.
- pro <target>=<message> - This will send a message from your dragon to target.
- Possible targets: dragons (a single list or multiple dragons), weyr (all dragons from your weyr), wing (all dragons from your wing), color (all dragons of your color), all (all connected dragons)
