Weyrlinghood: Month 1
First Things First
Update your +finger information:
ex:
&pos me=Weyrling to <Dragonname> at Ista Weyr
Update your description:
Please change your description (@desc me=<Your description.>) to include appropriate clothing. If your name is in your @desc and you're a man, you'll want to change that too! Also, all weyrlings are required to have hair short enough to comfortably fit under a riding helmet. As a full rider, you will be able to make the choice of long or short hair for yourself, but for now, you must have short hair. Plus getting your hair cut can be a fun scene.
As a weyrling, if you do not have suitable clothing, the Weyr will provide it for you. Full length, lightweight pants are appropriate year round. Short-sleeved shirts are appropriate year-round as well, and a light, watertight jacket is provided as protection against the heavy rains of the wet season. Due to the nature of weyrlinghood, boots are to be worn year round. All weyrlings will wear a knot consisting of a thread of black, a thread of orange, and a thread of the color of their dragon.
Set your @aconnect and @adisconnect:
@aconnect and @adisconnect are very useful commands. Whatever you have set up in them will automatically happen every time you connect to and disconnect from the MUSH. Please do not use either command to automatically spam the knots, whether with greetings or otherwise. To have more than one command in either setting, simply put a semi-colon between each command.
Here are the commands we recommend all weyrlings to use:
@aconnect me=+bbread 6/u; +bbread 9/u; +skim u
@adisconnect me=+flush
Here are a few other commands that can come in handy in your @aconnect:
+selfboot - Disconnects extra connections when you've been disconnected accidentally from the game.
@doing <what you want to say> - This can be read by anyone typing WHO.
Any other bulletin boards you want to keep up on.
Update your home:
The weyrling barracks are off the Northwest Bowl. Link yourself there!
Set up your couch (if you want one):
As a weyrling, you don't get a whole lot of privacy, ICly or OOCly. While you can't get your own weyr yet, you can have a couch, which gives you a spot to have some privacy. We have code that sets it up for you using the following steps:
To create the couch:
@create <Dragonname>'s couch
@parent <Dragonname>'s Couch=#1526
@set <Dragonname>'s Couch=Commands
@set <Dragonname>'s Couch=dark
Use 'couch help' and set your couch up by following the instructions.
Set up a controller for your dragon:
You can use the globally available puppet controller for your dragon. The first thing you need to do is unhalt your dragon. To do this, you do: @set Dragonth=!halt
Next, set up the controller. To do this, you need to know the object number for your dragon, which you can find by doing: think [num(dragonth)] using your dragon's name.
Once you have the number, add it to the puppet controller: +bpc/add <two letter alias>=<dragon number>
Check out '+help bpc' to find out about the commands available. Here are some examples using a two letter alias 'na': .nado look .nado :hops up and down! .nado @emit Special!
If you have any problems or question, please contact the WLM staff!
