Basic Dragon Care

Weyrlinghood: Month 1

RP Ideas

  • Haircuts: All weyrlings will be required to cut their hair so that it does not hang past their shoulders and can be easily tucked under a riding helmet. You can cut your own hair or find friend to do it, but if you put it off, an AWLM might just sit you down and do it for you. If you wish to have your hair forcibly removed, please +mail the WLM team member you wish to do it and set up an appointment during the this or next week.
  • Bond with your fellow weyrlings: Over the next turn and a half, you'll spend a lot of time with the other pairs that impressed at the hatching. In that time you'll make enemies forever or friends to last a lifetime - choose wisely!
  • Butchering carcasses and feeding dragons: Since the dragons can't disassemble their own herdbeast, you've got to do it for them. Dead animals will be brought in and vats are provided to place the meat in. AWLMs will assist you for the first couple of days but after you've had a chance to get the knack of it, you're on your own.
  • Oiling and bathing dragons: These are lifetime chores, and you'll probably become good at them rapidly - you'll have a lot of practice! Dragons will be bathing in the garden pool until they are old enough to fly down to the beach.
  • Keeping your area tidy and your dragon's couch mucked out: Each weyrling is responsible for keeping his or her area of the barracks neat and clean. Waste should be dealt with immediately, as should oil. There will be random inspections of the areas. +mail the WLM team if you wish to be disciplined on camera for untidiness.
  • Woops!: If dragons are like toddlers and if you're running ragged for the first few weeks then it's entirely likely that a few bumps and bruises will occur a long the way. Have you ever seen a toddler without cuts and bruises? Feel free to play these minor injuries at whim - anything that won't affect your character or dragon's ability to perform all the tasks of weyrlinghood! If you would like to have a more serious injury, please +mail the WLM team.
