Weyrlinghood: Month 8
RP Ideas
- Talk about flights: Are you looking forward to mating flights, scared silly, think they're one of the worst evils of the weyr? Talk to your fellow weyrlings, your WLMs or other experienced riders to share your concerns and hear their perspectives.
- Don't get pregnant: Go see the healer to talk about options for birth control and how to handle an unwanted pregnancy or have one of the weyrlingmasters teach you the trrick of going between to solve those problems. And it's not just for girls!
- Try not to chase: Riders of male dragons might practice inhibiting their dragon's urge to chase - which is a good bit easier while they're young.
Vignette Ideas
- Have a conversation with your dragon or even write from your dragon's perspective about his/her expectations regarding flights.
- Write about being around a flight, either a recent memory from being a weyrling at the weyr and observing a flight, or from further back if you're able. What did you think about it then? How did the flight affect you? How have things changed since then?
- While the Weyr does not officially encourage or discourage a weyrling from experiencing sex before their first flight, it is certainly an option. The rules against sex have been lifted for a bit now: are you eager to get the first time out of the way? Chomping at the bit to get back in the saddle? (pardon the mixed horse-metaphor) Are you hesitant about the first time or resuming sexual activity? Relieved you have more control over your reproductive habits? Are you sick to death of everyone talking about this whole mating flight topic so much? What -does- your character think about sex now?
